Considering how lethargically the toad proceeds on foot, it comes as a surprise to see it catch prey. The animal slowly approaches to within striking distance, whereupon its bulbous tongue shoots out of a gaping mouth enveloping its victim, then withdraws in a flash. Toads appear to have an insatiable appetite so have no difficultly enjoying a continual feast.
