Photographing insects in free flight had to be conducted inside where all the electronics and cameras could remain in place away from the elements for several days on end. The complex set-ups and the necessity to use high voltage flash equipment ((5000+volts) made this mandatory, if only for safety reasons! Indeed the setup seen here, where I am photographing leaping fleas for National Geographic Magazine, is clearly a health and safety nightmare!
