I have sometimes tended to concentrate on mini collections of some of my favourite species such as swallows, robins and barn owls.

Almost all these pictures, the multi-flash of the kestrel being an exception, were taken in the birds' natural habitat. Most of the high-speed images were the result of keeping the equipment in place out in the open for days on end, where there was a serious risk of wind, rain and vandals. This fraught approach was abandoned years ago for obvious reasons!
