AXOLOTYL
With such an engaging face it is hardly surprising that this picture has attracted so much attention. The axolotyl is a salamander from Mexico that somehow reaches maturity without losing its gills, so never leaves the water. For all intents purposes the animal remains a giant tadpole all its life.
